Academy of Saint Maron Eparchy in Canada (ASMEC)

DESCRIPTION

The Academy of Saint Maron Eparchy Canada (ASMEC) is an Eparchial Formation Program, organized by l’Institut Maronite de Théologie et d’Études Chrétiennes (IMTEC), aiming at preparing future generations for leadership services within our Maronites Parishes in Canada.

MISSION

The mission of the ASMEC consists of forming and developing the skills of our Maronite Young Adults and other Maronite Laity to assume leadership positions / services at all pastoral, administrative and organizational levels within our Maronite Parishes in Canada in order to enhance professionalism, ensure continuity, and create a healthy communal church culture based on the values of the Gospel.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Foster faith-based leadership skills and competencies among church laity, specifically Young Adults and to provide them with conceptual knowledge and techniques to improve their leadership skills.
  2. Reduce the gap between generations by providing leaders with knowledge to deal with today’s challenges.

TARGET

The Maronite Young Adults are the primary target. However, other laity interested in the program or in need for the program will be able to join after the pastor’s approval. Any young adult who is active in his/her parish, participated for three consecutive years at the Youth National Convention and with the pastor’s recommendation will be giving priority to join the program.

FINANCE

Parishes have to support financially the Formation Program of the ASMEC by paying $50 as administrative fees to the order of the IMTEC for each participant.

PROGRAM

The program of the ASMEC consists of five modules to cover the main aspects of Church Leadership Services within our parishes. The program starts in January and ends in May. Each session will cover one module, and each module consists of three hours training once a month. The last session will be held during the Maronite Youth Convention or in a special in person gathering for graduation purpose.

  • Module 1 – The Maronites: Identity and Image.
  • Module 2 – Concepts of Leadership.
  • Module 3 – Modern Management Approaches.
  • Module 4 – Initial Church Organizational Structure and Offices.
  • Module 5 – Pastoral Services (Spiritual, Liturgical, Charitable, Educational, Social, Administrative & Financial, Youth, Children, Family, etc.)
